Animal Farm
Read the first half of the novel (chapters 1-5). What is your reaction to it so far? Explain what you like and dislike about it. What confuses you? What interests you? What characters do you like and dislike? Why?

ReplyDeleteI'm amazed on how one person (or animal) can have such a great affect on an entire farm and cause a rebellion between humans and animals and cause such chaos.
What I dislike and like:
I like how the farmers even though they dislike each other team up together to try to discourage their animals not to rebel against them and join Animal Farm. Though they fail the farmers try to go recapture Manor Farm.
I don't like how the animals turn against Snowball and run him off of the farm
What interest me:
I find it interesting that Humans and animals are in rivalry.
What confuses me:
I'm confused on how the animals start to react after they get rid of Mr. Jones. They are told not to do as "Man" does, because Man is the root of all evil. Yet the pigs, Snowball, Napoleon,and Squealer are learning and teaching the other animals on the farm to read and write. They are also studying the ways of blacksmithing and carpentering.
What characters do I like:
my favorite character is Boxer because he tries his best at everything he puts his mind to or is told to do. I dislike Napoleon because he causes the other animals to turn against Snowball, even though he's the good guy.

ReplyDeleteWhat I like: at the end where the pigs basically become men and took over the farm and killed Jones. What confuses me about this book is how the animals beat the men.
What characters I like: I like Snowball because he puts the other animals first. Snowball told the animals to imagine the future better for them and the rest of the animals in the world. Plus Snowball was also not greedy, demanding, or lazy like Napoleon was.
What interests me: The pigs are so powerful. Whatever they say the other animals listen.
my reaction: i don't like how in this story they made the humans seem weak and all and made the animals smart and being able to read. I also noticed that the animal in charge of it all was Napoleon, who tries to take over just like the real Napoleon.
ReplyDeleteWhat i liked and disliked: i liked the faith in all the animals except Napoleon and Snowball. I disliked how Snowball and Napoleon weren't treating everyone like they were treating themselves.
What confuses me: it confuses me that the humans are taking so long to get the farm back, and that Napoleon betrays Snowball.
What interest me: I am interested that Mollie was skipping her work with one of Mr. Pilkington's men.
What characters I like and dislike: I like everyone on the farm except Napoleon, Snowball, and Mr. Jones for not taking care of the animals like he's supposed to.
My reaction: i don't like how they made the animals tough and smart and can read and the all the workers and farmers were weak and had nothing. And i like how napoleon was in charge.
ReplyDeleteWhat i liked and disliked: i like how all the animals had the encouragement and the attitude to work together, i didint like how napoleon and snowball were being treated good and everybodyelse did'nt get the same privalages.
what confuses me: one thing that confuses me is how come the humans have every thing in the world to get there farm back but they take forever to do it and the animals are jus sitting there.
What interest me: all the pigs are beast and have the power and dominate.
what characters i like and dislike: the chracters i like are boxer and clover because they were realllllllllyyyyy close friends and like to help0 eachother.
Reaction:I dont like this book. But i like how when the lights cut off in the bedroom all the animals stared coming togehter like their having a meeting.
ReplyDeleteI like: how the animals manage to hold the farm down while fighting for their lives. What confuses me is how snowball tries to be in charge whe napoleon is and tries to control everthing.
What interest me: Is how the farmer is always the one trying to find out what's wrong with his farm. But yet the animals know but don't give him hints why.
What characters i like and dislike: I like napoleon and snowball becuase they have good team work and they work togehter and figured their problems out and did it with the whole farm.

ReplyDeleteI do somewhat like this book. I wasn't sure if i would or not at the beginning. This book is starting to get very interesting and i think it could end in many different ways.
What I like:
I like how all the animals learned how to work together even though they had many conflicts. I think we all can learn a little bit from them. I also liked how Napoleon and Snowball right away took responsibility for the animals and the farm.
What I dislike: I don't like the idea of "Animalism" and all the rules. I understand here needs to be a leader(s) and a structure to keep things in order but trying to control everything inst right if you ask me. One other thing i didn't like is that Napoleon took control over everything and even got rid of Snowball! :(
What confuses me:
If men are so evil why does Snowball and Napoleon want to teach the animals their ways?
What characters do i like and dislike:
I like all the characters but Mr. Jones and Napoleon.
Reaction: I was very confused at first. I thought it was weird how the animals were trying to get rid of Mr. Jones. I didnt know what to think at first, but when I started to read it more I understood that the animals where just trying to have there own freedom and did'nt want to be controled by a farmer.
ReplyDeleteWhat I liked: When the animal where free and did'nt have to deal with Mr. Jones; I liked how they had meetings like people in a court to talk about what they should change and keep with the farm. I also liked some of the rules that they had to keep them inline. when the rules said, "All animals are egual" it was almost like what God said.
What I disliked: What I did'nt like was how Mr. Jones just gave up on his farm and let the animals take over. When the animals where all togther in there meetings I did'nt like how some of the animals did'nt stand up for what they believed in and just let the pigs do all the controlling.
What confused me: What I did'nt completly under stand was how the anaimals were able to take over like it was nothing. I know that its a fiction book, but what confused me the most was how the animals where able to talk like humans.
Characters I liked and disliked: The character I liked the most was Boxer. I did'nt like Mr. Jones.
Why: The reasons why I liked Boxer the most was that: when he out his mind to somthing he would get it done no matter how hard or tired he was. the reasons why I didn't like Mr. Jones was that he was a drunk and didnt care for his animals as much as he could. that gave the animals a reason to rebell against the humans.
Reaction, I really didn't like the book.. It had so much backwards stuff in it...It made it seem like the animals was everything..

Who I really liked, Snowball and Napolean because they was awesome and funny..
